BRIEF HISTORY

The Department of Political Science was established as a separate department in the year 1974. Till then it was part of the History department. Mr.P.Jagadeeswara Rao was the first person who joined as lecturer in the department of History.

The Department of Political Science endeavors to generate new knowledge & produce students who are trained in Political Science.


Mission

The Department of Political Science strives to pursue academic excellence in teaching and extension.

To impart teaching to the students in order to equip them academic and professional capabilities and develop analytical perspective.

To undertake extension activities in order to create free and human society.

 

Goals of the Department

To undertake teaching extension programs in major branches of Political Science to impart training to the student in order to equip them academic and professional capability & develop among them analytical perspective. 

To encourage research in the social political issues at contribute to the discipline of Political Science.

To undertake extension activities in order to create free, just and humane society.

DEPARTMENT HIGHLIGHTS

·        Mr. R Surya Rao, Retd. Principal, Sir C R Reddy College was elected is .

(East & West Godavari Teacher Constituency (M.L.C)

·        Additional reading material is provided to the students by photocopying.+

·        Value based education classes are conducted.

·        The faculty members prepared the question banks for all the subjects.

·        The faculty members prepared academic package of each subject and supplied the student at free of cost.

·        Students are encouraged to participated in the society outreach programs.



ACHIEVEMENTS

 FACULTY ACHIEVEMENTS :

·        Students are assisted to improve their ability to learn by adopting different methods of teaching and also by creating in Politics as a subject.

·        The students are properly counseled to develop their skills both verbal and material by conducting debates, elocutions, quiz program, essay writing competitions on the subject and general topics, so that they can develop communication skills to take up employment in future.

·        CD’s are collected and shown to the students to know more about the subject.

·        The department celebrated the Andhra Pradesh formation day.

 

STUDENTS ACHIEVEMENTS :

*    Students of BA are encouraged and trained to participated in Cultural, Literary and Fine Arts events.

*    Our Students participated in The Nannaya University Youth Festivals organized at several places and won prizes (Nannaya University).

*    The students also participated in Youth Festivals conducted by a Government organization i.e, SETWEL.

*    Students participated in Vanam – Manam Rally, DomalapyeDondayatra – ParisaralaParisubratha Rally, Swacha Bharat & Blood Donation etc.,

    The graduates will
  • PEO1: Be acquainted with the basic normative and contemporary concepts and ideas of Political Theory; assess the contribution of key ancient and modern Indian and Western political thinkers and their relevance to contemporary times.
  • PEO2: Be familiarized with the legal and philosophical framework of the political system in India, and simultaneously study in detail the political structure both Constitutional and Administrative including Public and Local Administration.
  • PEO3: Be exposed to a comprehensive introduction to the most important multilateral political organization in International Relations along with the various Issues in World Politics viz, terrorism, human rights, and environmental issues etc.
  • PEO4: Learn how to study the major political systems of the world by adopting a comparative approach.
  • PEO5: Acquire a comprehensive analysis of the traditional and social organisations of the Hill people of Northeast India. It also highlights the administrative provisions made for the Hill people during the British rule.

 

Program Outcomes (POs)
At the end of the B.A (Political Science) programme, graduates will be able to

PO1: Strengthen the understanding and appreciation of the rights and privileges granted by the Indian Constitution, and become aware of the political processes and the actual functioning of the political system.

PO2: To acquaint with the dynamics of Indian Administration.

PO3: Preparation for civil service and competitive examinations.

PO4: Identify issues such as caste, communalism and regionalism and critically assesses their impact on the political processes.

PO5: Determine the differences and similarities between the various constitutional arrangements both in Western-European countries, as well as functioning of Asia-African and Latin American countries.

PO6: Understand the reorganisation of the Hills areas under the Indian constitution after Independence and the contemporary issues and challenges in Northeastviz, ethnicity, separatist movement, and underdevelopment etc.
